How to use RSS feed in Joomla?
    What is RSS?
RSS stands for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication. It is a simple way for people to stay in touch with new content on your website.

    How does RSS work?
First you have to create a RSS feed. Than visitors of your website add this feed to their RSS reader. When you add new content to your website it is automatically sent directly to the readers. Nice, huh?

How to use Joomla RSS Feed?
Joomla has an integrated RSS Feed, so all you have to do is to enable and configure it. Thats what we are going to do right now.
    Configuring Joomla RSS Feed
Log in to your Joomla administration area
    Go to Components > Syndicate

A new window will open with Syndication Settings
You can leave default settings for most of them; change only these below:

Title and Description: enter those to customize your feed.
Image: Select your own image that will show on the right side of syndication feed. We use our logo.
Select which rss formats you want to enable. We use only RSS 2.0
    Save your settings.
See how Title, Description and Image appear on image:

To be able to see RSS feed on your homepage, you have to enable it.
    Go to Modules
    Find the Module called Syndication
We will now edit this Module:
Select module position (left, right or whereever you want it to appear)
Click Yes on publish radio button.
On right, select on which pages you want it to appear.
Scroll down to Parameters: now select which RSS formats you want to use. We use only RSS 2.0
    Save your settings.

Now go to your homepage and preview how your feed looks.

Here are some nice RSS icons

  2. Tod Davies Said,

I’ve got another question for the web maestro…actually two questions. I’m switching over from an Internet dial up connection to a wireless one. How do I change the settings on my computer to access my website based email? what, for example,is the outgoing server?

And how do I set up another email address from the website to substitute for the dial up website I’m losing?

    THANKS!

  3. Randy Lockhart Said,

Hi… the only thing you need to change in the outgoing mail settings is what your new ISP’s outgoing mail settings are.

You do not need to create a new email account, just continue to use the existing one that is on your cpanel account
